Description
The Specialized Aethos Sport is a road bike that reminds you why you started riding in the first place. Stripped of aero-at-all-costs thinking, the Aethos platform was built around feel and lightness, with classic round tube shapes refined through modern carbon engineering rather than wind-tunnel obsession.
Frame & ride
At its core sits the Aethos FACT 9R carbon frame, Rider First Engineered to scale stiffness across each size and paired with a FACT carbon fork. A threaded BSA bottom bracket simplifies long-term maintenance, while flat-mount disc tabs and 12×142/12x100mm thru-axles bring the chassis fully up to current road standards. The result is a bike that feels poised when you stand up to climb and stays composed when the road tilts back down again.
This Sport-level build runs a full Shimano 105 12-speed mechanical groupset, with a 50/34 compact chainset and 11-34 cassette covering UK climbs comfortably, plus Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes for predictable stopping in mixed weather. Wheels are tough, dependable DT Swiss R470 Disc rims on DT R470 hubs, set up with 700x28mm Specialized Turbo Pro tyres featuring BlackBelt puncture protection. The Roval Alpinist carbon seatpost keeps the rear end forgiving on long days, and a Body Geometry Power Sport saddle handles the contact point most riders are pickiest about.
