Description
The Enigma Etape has grown up. Once positioned as a titanium winter bike, it now reads as a properly considered all-road endurance frameset, the kind of bike you build once and ride for a decade across audax events, lumpy sportives and weekend tours along quiet British lanes. The character of the bike has shifted with that role, but its unfussy, dependable feel has stayed.
Frame & build
The frame is drawn from Enigma’s double-butted GR9 3Al/2.5V titanium tubing, with size-specific tube profiles so smaller and larger riders both get a consistent ride feel rather than a one-tube-fits-all compromise. Endurance geometry softens the edges of a pure race fit without making the bike feel sluggish, which suits long days where comfort and predictable handling matter more than the last few millimetres of stack drop.
External cable routing has been kept on purpose. It is easier to service in a workshop and far less fussy to live with through wet UK winters. UDH compatibility brings the Etape into line with current drivetrain standards, while disc brakes and clearance for 35mm tyres open the door to mixed-surface routes, light gravel detours and bikepacking trips. Mudguard and rack mounts make it equally at home as a fast tourer when the trip is measured in days.
