Description
The Ridgeback Advance 2W shares its motor, battery and core spec with the standard Advance 2 but reframes the whole package around an open, step-through layout. That single change makes a big practical difference for riders who want easier mounting and dismounting, whether that is because of a hip niggle, a long skirt or simply preferring not to swing a leg over a top tube at every set of traffic lights.
Motor & battery
The bike runs the Shimano STEPS DU-E6100 mid-drive system with 250W and 60Nm of torque, controlled through the STEPS E5000 display and switch. A 504Wh battery is integrated into the frame and supports a quoted range of up to 205km, depending on terrain, load and assistance level. A 9-speed microSHIFT drivetrain with an 11-36T cassette covers town hills, towpath flats and weekend excursions without feeling under-geared.
RST Volant suspension at the front provides 60mm of travel for soaking up rough urban surfaces, paired here with 50mm Impac Bigpac tyres on 700c wheels for grip and comfort on mixed surfaces. Hydraulic disc brakes, full mudguards, integrated lights powered by the STEPS system and an AtranVelo-compatible rack come fitted, making the Advance 2W a properly equipped utility e-bike out of the box.
