Description
The Ridgeback Butcher is a compact e-cargo bike aimed at riders who want to shift small to medium loads through real-world UK streets without committing to the footprint of a long-tail or front-loader trike. Its narrow front basket area and conventional two-wheel silhouette make it easier to thread through urban traffic, navigate cycle lane bollards and squeeze into bike parking that a wider cargo bike would simply refuse to enter.
Motor & battery
Power comes from a Promovec rear hub motor rated at 250 watts and 43Nm of torque, paired with a 600Wh Promovec battery. That combination is well suited to mixed urban duty: school runs, the weekly shop, courier-style trips and the occasional steeper climb across town. Mudguards, lights and a stand are fitted as standard, so the bike is genuinely ready to be used as a daily utility tool from day one.
Stopping is handled by Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, while a 9-speed Shimano Altus drivetrain with an 11-32T cassette gives a usable gear range when the assistance cuts out at the legal UK limit. Schwalbe Delta Cruiser tyres on a mixed 20in front and 26in rear wheel layout keep the load low and the bike stable when the basket is full.
