Description
The Planet X Reiver in this Rival AXS XPLR build is the sharper end of the Reiver range: a Toray carbon frameset matched to SRAM’s 13-speed Rival AXS E1 wireless groupset, dressed up for fast gravel without losing sight of the bike’s adventure roots. It’s a proper multi-surface speed machine, equally at home on a Sunday gravel race as on a self-supported weekend tour.
Frame & ride
The Toray carbon frame keeps rotational and overall mass low, which translates into a bike that accelerates eagerly out of corners and climbs without protest. Geometry is tuned for confident, forgiving handling over rough lanes, technical climbs and the brief tarmac sprints that link them, and tyre clearance of 700x50c gives you headroom for chunky, lower-pressure rubber when conditions demand it.
For riders who like a clean front end, the Reiver’s semi-integrated cockpit tucks cabling neatly while staying serviceable. SRAM’s UDH mech hanger means a replacement is easy to source anywhere, and the spread of mounts across frame and fork lets the bike take on bottles, frame bags, panniers and mudguards as your plans evolve. From quick post-work loops to multi-day adventures, the Rival AXS XPLR Reiver covers the ground in style. The 13-speed XPLR cassette pairs well with this kind of chassis: it gives you a road-bike feel cadence on tarmac sections and a low enough crawler ratio to spin up steep, loose climbs without burning your legs.
