Description

The On-One Free Ranger steps confidently into the modern gravel arena, pairing a featherweight carbon chassis with the no-cables convenience of SRAM’s wireless Rival AXS XPLR groupset. It’s a bike that genuinely flexes between weekend gravel racing, big bikepacking loops and quick after-work blasts on lanes and bridleways.

Frame & ride

The full carbon frameset has been shaped with quick handling in mind, yet there’s enough composure built into the geometry to keep things planted when the surface gets loose or rutted. UDH compatibility on the rear end means the hanger is replaceable anywhere in the world and the frame is ready for the latest direct-mount drivetrain standards. Tyre clearance reaches 48mm on 700c rims, opening the door to plush, lower-pressure rubber for rough doubletrack or skinnier slicks for fast, mixed-surface days.

Practicality has not been sacrificed at the altar of light weight. Bottle, luggage and mudguard mounts are scattered across the frame and fork, so panniers, cargo cages, frame bags and mudguards all bolt straight on without bodges. That makes the Free Ranger an honest contender for multi-day adventures as well as race day. The Mavic Allroad wheelset rolls smoothly on tarmac transitions while remaining stiff enough to hold a line through choppy off-road sections, and the 13-speed cassette gives you a wide enough spread to keep the cadence comfortable on long, drawn-out climbs.

Riding feel is on the lively side of stable. The carbon front triangle absorbs road buzz nicely, while the rear stays firm enough to reward sprinting out of the saddle. SRAM’s Rival hydraulic discs provide consistent, finger-light braking through wet British weather - exactly the kind of confidence you want when descending unfamiliar lanes loaded with bikepacking kit.
